They work independently from the local authorities and Government but still meet the Government’s standards and regulations which are regularly inspected by Ofsted.
One of our core values is to create families for the many vulnerable children who are looked after by local authorities across the UK. We have been doing this since 1946, so we’ve had quite a bit of practice!
To do this we recruit, train and approve adopters to then help them find the right match with the children who are in need of a loving home. We also have over 30 years’ experience in Inter Country Adoption, helping families adopt children from overseas.
Adoption is for everyone! – We work with people from;
But there are a few things which can exclude you such as;
Other things, which we feel may need further discussion with you, can be found on our website or you can give us a call!
Following the lockdown and throughout the pandemic, our team came together to create new ways of working to ensure we could continue to support our existing families and welcome new faces to the wonderful world of adoption. Some of our training and information is now available online which allows you to learn and reflect in the comfort of your own home but we also provide LIVE training to promote the sharing of thoughts and ideas about the topics you will cover and to help you build your support network with people who are just as nervous and excited as you are!
We pride ourselves on our offer of lifelong support; providing bespoke packages of therapeutic training, support from our experienced adopters and groups for our children and families. We will also train your friends and family! Explaining the needs of your child and how they can help you meet them will give you that extra confidence that all bases are covered.
Like any family we also enjoy getting together as often as we can to see our lovely families thriving and will host social events throughout the year, like our Annual Summer Picnic!
As we have grown over the past year we have come to need more staff, Trustees and volunteers to join our team and our door is always open! Currently, we have a few voluntary vacancies on our Adoption Panel.
Adoption Panel is the final part of our prospective adopters’ assessment where all the work they have completed is put into a report which is read, discussed and approved by the Panel Members. Panel membership is a voluntary role and our panel currently meets twice a month. To be a Panel Member all you need to have is an interest or connection to adoption, education, children’s services, healthcare services and a few hours a month to attend our meetings.
Interested? Or know anyone who would make a great Panel Member?
