Doncaster is proud to play host to one of the most prestigious race weeks of the British horse racing calendar, the William Hill St. Leger Festival.
- The Festival kicks off with St Leger Legends Day, when retired celebrities of the saddle dust off their breeches and return to action in the feature event competing in the charity race, a contest run on the straight mile. The Leger Legends race helps raise money for the Northern Racing College and Jack Berry House, a rehabilitation facility for injured jockeys.
- DFS Ladies Day is a hugely popular day at the races. The ultimate in glitz and glamour, this is one of South Yorkshire’s biggest social occasions. Naturally there will be an abundance of the finest fillies out in force, hoping to secure the Best Dressed Lady crown.
- Gentleman’s Day is the penultimate day of the iconic Festival attracts some of the most prestigious racing of the week, with the Doncaster Cup, the oldest race currently run under the Rules of Horse Racing, taking centre-stage. Gentlemen’s Day includes attractions such as a sports car display and laser clay pigeon shooting.
- St Leger Day is The William Hill St Leger Festival’s flagship day, bringing the four days to a dramatic climax. The biggest day of the week and home to the World’s oldest Classic, the St Leger Stakes. The showpiece race consistently attracts some of the leading stables across the country and boasts a glittering roll of honour which is littered with some of the most acclaimed horses in history.
