Join us as we bring Remake Learning to Doncaster, and the UK, for the very first time!
Taking place right across Doncaster, we are hosting our very first Doncaster Remake Learning Days Festival, taking place over 10 days, from Thursday 25th May to Saturday 3rd June 2023 including May half term.
The festival will offer free and low cost, family-friendly activities and events designed to build knowledge and spark creativity. We want people of all ages to rediscover a love for learning outside of the classroom and join in to inspire curiosity, spark new passions and even discover new hobbies or future career options! It will kick-start with our own ‘A Night at The Museum’ launch event where families can meet dinosaurs and reptile, and watch exhibitions come to life.
You can find a full list of activities and events taking place in your local area as part of the festival, by visiting www.remakelearningdays.org/doncaster-uk – activities can be filtered by age range, location, theme and even organisation to suit your needs!
The festival is being run by our voluntary sector, businesses, organisations, community groups and City of Doncaster Council, and using the great assets across Doncaster, these events will be themed around science and technology, arts, crafting and making, history and culture, youth voice, professional development, outdoor learning and sport and much more.
Whether that’s painting a galaxy with Pub Painting UK at the Wool Market, creating paper and fabric flowers for a new display as part of Denaby in Bloom, drama and dance workshops for all ages with Thorne Arts Network, flower arranging for adults with Dadesley Crafting CIC in Balby, or Forest School for little ones at Castle Academy in Conisbrough, there’s something for everyone!
We even have a series of events aimed at adults only, with everything from NHS careers drop-in sessions, a Doncaster Launchpad session for those thinking about starting a business, and CV writing workshops, to adults only arts and crafts sessions. We will also be promoting and highlighting some of the great activities that already take place for our families and communities, such as those within our fantastic local libraries and Family Hubs.
The event is growing every week and activities will continue to be added to schedule so keep checking back to discover what else is on offer both in your local community and further afield. Make sure you follow City of Doncaster Council on social media for announcements of new events and activities.
We are kick-starting the festival with our ‘A Night at The Museum’ launch event, taking place at Danum Gallery, Library and Museum (DGLAM) on Thursday 25th May, 4pm-6.30pm. Watch as Dinosaurs and exhibitions come to life, meet real reptiles, join in with the ‘Juggle with Forces’ science show, try out taster festival events, see our steam engine up close and learn something new about the City of Doncaster!
The launch event is free to attend and we look forward to seeing families there for an evening of wonder and fun!
Remake Learning Days is an initiative that started in America to inspire minds and spark curiosity and passion by bringing learning outside of the classroom. It celebrates the great assets we have in our communities and showcases the diverse range of talent and opportunities right on our doorsteps.
