We scuttle into the Underglade on the evening of the annual Bug Fest, where beetles, grasshoppers, and Lil’ Bugs alike gather with ant-icipation to celebrate and delight in the story of Gwen, the Glow Worm who lost her Glow. On a multi-sensory adventure, Gwen and her bug besties try to ‘fix’ her glow, but actually learn that when we’re in the darkest of places, it’s our friends that can help turn on the lights.
Glow will be appearing at CAST Theatre in October and some of our local primary schools.

Speaking about the show, Director and Artistic Director of Buglight Theatre, Keeley Lane said:
“Glow is a glow-orious story of friendship, connection and resilience with some fantastic characters who I think children and families will fall in love with. Packaged into this beautiful, playful story lies lessons in mental health, strategies to cope and resilience. I relate most to Francis the Firefly in the piece, as someone who has to be ‘on’ all the time and who goes into ‘overglow’ to make sure everything gets done. I’ll be taking a lesson or two myself from Bernie Butterfly and his meditation techniques!”
And writer, Kat-Rose Martin:
“As someone who has personal experience of mental health struggles and ‘losing my glow’, I feel like it’s so important that we talk to children and young people about their feelings. That we say it’s okay to sometimes not feel great and to provide some strategies to cope with the tough times. And all of that sits as the foundations for what is a fun, playful, colourful show with some really charming, silly characters. I am most excited for Stan the Stick Insect, the Giggle Song, and Big Bug Breathing. I often forget to take a moment to breathe and reflect so it’s such a great reminder for adults too. Most of all I can’t wait to see how our lovely performers interact with our Lil’ Bug audience. Giving them permission to giggle, dance around and tell us all their beautifully creative thoughts and ideas.”

We are passionate about regional theatre and creating opportunities for local artists. We are striving to become an inclusive company, able to support parents, working class artists and those who don’t feel represented or supported.
Glow couldn’t have been made without the support of our partners, and we’d particularly like to thank Arts Council England, Doncaster Council, CAST and the Leeds Playhouse for their continued support.
