If you’re at a loose end with the little ones this weekend, don’t fear! Here is a selection of local family friendly goings-on, that you don’t need to book in advance.
Junglemazeia – Doncaster’s newest and wildest indoor play area and private party venue. A multi-tiered soft play centre based just off the M18 in Thorne, we visited last year and it is a lovely space. Both of my children enjoyed the soft play, which was big enough, but not so big that they got lost amongst it! Worth a try if it’s a wet weekend! Visit Website
Flip Out Doncaster – Situated in the Frenchgate Centre, if you’ve not yet tried Flip Out, head there this weekend for some fliptastic fun! We have been several times and love it. It’s a huge place, really spacious and it’s suitable for all ages 18 months to 90 years…so it’s one for all of the family! They also have a free soft play area for younger guests (under 5) to use, which is next to the cafe. Visit Website
Doncaster Dome – Ice skating has never been more safe and fun for the family. Head to the ice caps at The Dome this weekend for a unique skating experience. (They’re fully equipped for beginners to try the ice for the first time, with skating supports and aids etc). Under 5’s are Free! I love the sound of their Family Disco! Visit Website
Yorkshire Wildlife Park – As everyone in Doncaster shivered under the sudden Arctic blast this week, Nobby the polar bear was in his element! A frozen lake was just too tempting for the four year old who gleefully plunged into the chilly waters at the award winning Yorkshire Wildlife Park. Its Project Polar Reserve became a winter wonderland to the four polar bears who enjoy its ten acres of caves, lakes and rolling terrain. Head down there this weekend to see the Polar Bears having fun in this chilly weather. Remember that there is a fantastic indoor play area too, with hot food to warm up! Visit Website
Boston Park Farm – You can enjoy indoor and outside fun at Boston Park Farm, enjoy feeding the animals and a play outside, before heading in for an amazing hot chocolate, hot food and a lovely soft play area (with a separate area for babies too). There is also and undercover sandpit. Visit Website
Potteric Carr – A few people have told me recently that they didn’t know where this was! Basically, it’s opposite B & Q as you head towards Juction 3 of the M18 (going out of Doncaster). It’s great for a winter walk, with plenty of things for children to look at along the way. Mine love being in charge of the map and finding the wooden carved creatures as they go around! A great place to get your wellies on, get wrapped up and get out in the elements. Do a nature trail along the way and then reward yourselves with a warm drink and some delicious food in the lovely cafe. Visit Website
The Deep – It’s Big Fish Fortnight! The Big Fish Campaign is back and The Deep is helping to spread the word about smart choices for home aquariums. Their team will dispel the myths and shed light on just how big these tank busters grow! Get the kids involved with their interactive family presentations this weekend at 11am, 1pm ad 3pm. They also have fun at Craft Corner for catfish badge making and you can take part in the Big Fish Trail for the chance to win a fish-tastic prize! Visit Website
Tropical World – Head in from the cold and discover your inner explorer at Tropical World, Leeds. Meet crocodiles, snakes, monkeys, meerkats and so much more, all under one roof. Fantastic family fun, whatever the weather – plus under 5’s go free! Visit Website
Rock Up, Meadowhall – We have been to Rock-Up in Hull many times and have loved it! We were pleased to hear about the one opening in Meadowhall…haven’t tried it yet, but if it is anything like the one in Hull it will be fantastic! Visit Website
