We took our Harry Potter mad kids to the NEW Steel Cauldron in Sheffield, which opened it’s doors recently.
The Steel Cauldron is a wizarding paradise and brilliant for kids who are in to anything a bit magical! We booked an afternoon tea as an end of summer holidays treat. I did see that they now offer family wand making sessions too which look great.
On arrival, we were met by our host who explained everything to us and he led us to our table. The entrance and the whole tea shop is brilliantly decorated. Really quirky. We spent ages looking at the ceiling! There were lots of photos on the ceiling, magical and mysterious items all around and what we thought was a whomping willow tree.
We ordered our drinks – I enjoyed some Basilisk Blood (fruit juice) which shimmered with gold in the bottle. I was asked to do some magic on the bottle (ie shake it up and down in a mysterious way) and it came to life. The kids loved the theatre of it all. Mini Mumbler asked for normal squash and the host explained he’d added a bit of magic to that too and it was shimmering with gold.
Whilst we awaited our Afternoon Teas, a magician/wizard came to our table and performed some tricks. This was a really great touch and a lot of fun.
The pictures say it all really! Sugar overload and not a sandwich in sight. Definitely not your average afternoon tea. We enjoyed a Yorkshire Pudding Cauldron, Bertie Botts Every Flavour Beans, Cake, popcorn and amazing cake (the kids version was rocky road rather than cake).
We had a timed slot and were there around an hour and a half to enjoy our afternoon tea.
There were Covid Measures in place and there were lots of Harry Potter items for sale in the little shop which is within the tea room.
We weren’t dressed up, but there were lots of people there who were dressed up in Harry Potter costumes and I thought it would be a great place to go for halloween this year!
We paid £15 per adult and £12 for each child in the summer, however I noticed that currently the they are doing some special ‘Cauldron’s and Cakes’ for £5, so well worth trying out at that price!
