Curly’s Athletes are bringing something amazing to Doncaster this year! Having the best 5K in the country and the best 10K in Yorshire, the first Doncaster Half Marathon is set to be amazing too!
Hosted from the Keepmoat Stadium, by Club Doncaster, there will be an amazing finish on the pitch.
The route will take runners up from the Keepmoat Stadium towards the motorway, down the Great Yorkshire Way to take in the Great Yorkshire ‘Y’. Runners will say hello to the community in Rossington, so if you live there, pick your best spot and come out and cheer them on! Give the runners some support on the route!
We did the 5K at Yorkshire Wildlife Park (in the rain) think that was my limit…good luck to all the Curly’s Half Marathon Runners on Sunday!
Whilst i’m by no means up for running a half marathon, I’ll be at the Keepmoat with some activities for families! The atmosphere is set to be fantastic, so join us for some fun and games! Stadium Stars Day nursery, who are based at the Stadium will have some activities for little ones too, so there will be lots to keep the family entertained whilst they are waiting for the runners to make it back to the stadium. I even heard there will be ice cream! There are some junior events hosted by Curly’s too.
Kids Races will start after the main race has set off and will take place at the athletics track, right next door to the stadium. It is only £1 to enter, plus a medal for all! Every penny of this goes to Doncaster Athletics Club to help towards the upkeep of their track.
The main event starts at 9am and is set to finish around 12.30pm. We’ll have some Doncaster Mumbler flags available for children to wave when the runners come in, so if you’re coming along with the family look out for the Mumbler banners and come and grab one.
The runners will get an awesome cup cake and all of their event photos too, so Curly’s have thought of everything!
An event of this scale can’t take place for the safety of runners and residents, without the closure of roads. Curly’s have worked with schools and local clubs along the route such as Rossington All Saints Academy and are also supporting a local charity cause throughout the event, so their message is please join in the fun!
Here is a map of the roads that will be closed from midnight on Saturday 8th June to 4pm 9th June.
