This year, external activities will be held in two tipis in the grounds of the Minster. A huge thanks to Events Doncaster for helping to bring this beautiful outdoor space to host the activities in.
In one Tipi, the festival will have the fantastic Black Cat Theatre, who are coming along with ‘The Ramayana Shadow Show’ and shadow puppet workshop. You can check out their webpage here: Black Cat Theatre, Puppetry, Shadow Theatre and more.. (blackcat-theatre.co.uk)
Also in the Tipi’s, there will be a screening of James Lockey’s Depictions of DN film, which is accompanied by a fantastic film score written by Hayley Youell. The film depicts the ‘Top Local Heroes’ from Right Up Our Street’s social media Campaign ‘Depictions of DN’.
Heritage Doncaster’s Moving Museum will also be on site, along with craft activities provided by The Yorkshire Wildlife Trust.
Alongside the Tipi’s in the grounds, artist Wayne Sables has created a beautiful sculpture representing a murmuration of starlings. Wayne will be using projection mapping to bring the sculpture to life.
Wayne says “It’s been amazing to collaborate across artforms with a sculpture, musician, and myself (digital) to create the interactive light installation. The sculpture represents the heart of what’s great about Doncaster for me which is the community. Having the opportunity to create this installation for Doncaster is a huge honour.”
