Amanda Carpenter, owner of Play Avenue in Messingham (near Scunthorpe) has written a children’s book, during lockdown.The book, titled The Adventures of Firefighter Jordan, has been written to give kids a bit of a Play Avenue experience whilst Play Avenue is closed. Written for children aged seven and under, this is the first in a series of action and adventure books planned by the author.
“Firefighter Jordan rushes to the rescue of his friends as smoke pours from a theatre window, but things aren’t quite what they seem when he arrives,” explained Amanda. “All the action is there, with full-page colour illustrations, and this is what captures children’s’ imaginations,” she continued. “Younger children will enjoy having the book read to them, but children at the older end of the age range will just as easily read it on their own.”
Entering Amazon’s rankings at 3,355 on Saturday 30th May, it soared up the children’s book charts to reach 119 by midnight. No surprise really, as children adore the Play Avenue experience and were bound to love the cover of this brightly illustrated book.
