Boston Park Farm Maize Maze, Unicorn Day and Yorkshire Day!

The Maize Maze opens at Boston Park farm on July 15th and is open from 10am until 5pm every day (last entry to the maze 4pm).

5km of paths, which give the feeling of exploring through the jungle!

Price £6 each for adults and children (3+), £3 for toddlers (1&2 years old) or £20 for a family ticket (family of four adults and children). Babies under 1 year are free.

As always, there are the animals to feed at Boston Park too, including alpacas, goats, donkeys, sheet, chickens and pigs. New chicks are also hatching out all the time and there are some adorable baby rabbits. Each day at 11.30am and 2.30pm they get the rabbits and guinea pigs out for a cuddle.

There is also an indoor soft play area suitable for under 8’s which is brilliant for showery days and there is a separate sandpit barn now too. There have been some exciting additions to the play areas including a bouncy castle which will be open all summer (weather permitting).

My children love climbing on the hay bales and there are a couple of outdoor play areas (climbing, swings etc) so it can be a full day out with lots of variety.

There is a cafe too with great food options.

Lots of exciting things happening this summer, so go along, get lost in the maze and then enjoy a cuppa whilst the kids wear themselves out playing!

Other Events:

Unicorn Day, 29th July (Ticket Only) – Children will be able to have a ride on a ‘real’ unicorn, there will be free crafts on all day, a hunt for hidden unicorns around the farm and to make the day extra special you can add a build a unicorn/bear experience to your visit. Unicorn rides are an additional £2 per child, Build a Unicorn is an additional £8 per unicorn/bear.

Yorkshire Day, 4th August – There will be falconry displays and throughout the day, meet and cuddle the friendly ferrets from Axholme Wildlife Management, free tractor and trailer rides, plus join in with the Yorkshire quiz, and get your face painted. There will also be a number of local craft stalls to browse whilst the kids are playing and you also get to enjoy the rest of our fantastic farm and get lost in the Maize Maze too!

Sign up for the Summer Reading Challenge with Doncaster Libraries

Hooray! The Summer Reading Challenge is back and it officially launches on 13th July 2019.

The Summer Reading Challenge combines FREE access to books, with fun, creative activities in the library during the summer holidays. Throughout the challenge, library staff and young volunteers support the children, helping them to discover new authors and illustrators and to explore a wide range of different types of books and ways of reading.

Meet the Rockets! This super cool family lives on a satellite station in space. They love spending time at their local library on the Moon.

But wait! All of a sudden books have started to disappear from the Moon Library, and soon there won’t be any left…

A mysterious ship has been spotted on the radar – could these naughty aliens be behind the trouble at the library?

The Rockets are going on a very important mission to save the missing books from these alien bandits, and they need your help!

Take part in the Summer Reading Challenge with your child and join the Rockets on a chase through space to find the aliens and save the Moon Library.

How the Summer Reading Challenge Works

  • Children sign up for free at their local library and receive a Space Chase collector folder
  • Children borrow and read at least six library books of their own choice during the summer, collecting special stickers to complete their folder and incentives along the way
  • Library staff and young volunteers are on hand to advise and run family-friendly activities (see below)
  • Children who complete the Summer Reading Challenge are presented with a certificate and a medal

The Doncaster Big Latch On 2019

I’m delighted to be helping organise the 4th Doncaster Big Latch On this Year, along with our friends Baby Dinosaurs Kids Markets!

Last year, 175 people and 72 breastfeeding mums headed to Sandall Park to join Mumworthy in the big latch on count at 10.30am, participating with up to 60,000 breastfeeding/expressing mums all around the world and their friends and family.

This years event is on Friday 2nd August 2019 from 9.30am. Siblings, older children, friends and family are very welcome. Bring a picnic blanket for an informal get together. The past three years have seen beautiful sunshine on the day, so hopefully we will be lucky this time around!

The brilliant thing about the Big Latch On is that if you’re a new mum, there is everyone you could wish to speak to in terms of support there – the family hubs, health visitors, breastfeeding support team, pre/post natal care providers…all in one place. Plus you will meet other mums.

Sandall Park has lots of play areas for older children and loads of other people are coming along to support the event and provide activities to keep everyone entertained.

  • Puddle Ducks Doncaster will be joining us with Puddle the Duck!
  • NCT Doncaster
  • Baby Bumps Yoga
  • Frog Phonics
  • Zen Baby Doncaster
  • Water Babies
  • Little Gold Bee
  • and more, plus there will be some free fun activities and a bouncy castle too. We’ll even have ice cream.

Our nearest Go Apes’ are:

Sherwood Pines Forest Park, Edwinstowe, NG21 9GL (Also have a brand new Nets Kingdom which opened in Summer 2018 – this looks amazing and is suitable for younger children who might find the Tree Top Adventure or even Tree Top Junior a bit difficult or high. We visited in the summer and my then 4 year old enjoyed the Tree Top Junior half way round, but was terrified of the zip wire. The Nets would have been a good option for him).
