Boston Park Farm – Christmas at the farm

From 12th December, there will be a festive hunt around the nature trail and a special Christmas take-away menu.

Then from 19th -22nd Santa will be in his outdoor grotto! See him every hour on the hour from 11am-2pm for socially distanced selfies.

Tickets must be booked in advance (all Christmas activities are included in normal admission)

Countdown to Christmas in Doncaster 2020

Town Centre Lights and Illuminations

Visitors to Doncaster town centre might have seen the lights are up and the Christmas Tree in Sir Nigel Gresley Square.

Whilst the usual Countdown to Christmas event can’t take place, there will be a video of the lights and new installations to watch from home. Special video footage will include:

  • The Mansion House
  • Cusworth Hall
  • Corn Exchange
  • Doncaster Minster

On Wednesday December 2nd at 6.30pm the film will be premiered and we hope you’ll join us online.

Lakeside Village – Santa’s Surprise Visit

It just wouldn’t be Christmas without a visit from Santa Claus, would it?
Thankfully, we have it on good authority that Santa himself will be calling in at Lakeside Village this month, for a series of socially distanced surprise visits.
After what has been a tough year for Santa and his Elves, isolating at the North Pole, Santa has now been given special permission to travel during the Christmas period and he will be calling in at Lakeside Village on the following dates:
– Saturday 12 December
– Sunday 13 December
– Daily from 19-24 December
Unfortunately, he won’t be able to bring his grotto with him. However, along with his elves, he’ll be more than happy to pose for photographs from a safe distance.

Santa’s Woodland Workshop – Frenchgate Centre

Santa’s Woodland Workshop will be opening on Thursday 3rd December 2020 at Frenchgate!

Santa and his elves have been hard at work in their secret Woodland Workshop making toys and gifts for all the good boys and girls.

Enjoy a visit with the man himself, then journey into Santa’s workshop where an extra special treat awaits you. Once inside, you will be invited to choose your own gift from the toys on display – the elves will help you!

Bookings only – book in advance online or scan the QR Code at the Grotto entrance to book a time slot on that day.

We are delighted to announce that we can offer our Christmas Grotto , however needless to say like everything this year it will be different to previous years, all bookings must be pre booked and paid on booking by telephone ONLY 01302 842954, where you will be offered an allocated time slot on Saturdays 12th & 19th December/Sundays 13th & 20th December.
SANTA VISIT
1/ Arrive 10 minutes before allocated slot
2/ Park in one of the Santa’s Stop here Bays outside the Cowshed Cafe.
3/ Put your Child’s full name on a piece of paper in the windscreen of your car, an Elf will then come and get you when Santa is ready to see you.
4/ Only 2 accompanying Adults with children this year, sorry .
5/ Santa and his helper will talk to your child, however Children must remain 2 metres away from Santa, children over the age of 11 must wear a face mask as must parents/guardians
6/ Children will receive a present from Santa and 3 Gift Vouchers, 1 to return to play Crazy Golf, 1 for the Playbarn and one for the Go Carts.

This year we’re keeping the magic of Christmas alive by opening our Christmas grotto, however, they’ll be a few changes to keep everyone safe and sound!

Our grotto visit includes a reindeer hunt around our store, inside and out, and a chocolate lolly when you find them all!

Afterwards, you will make your way through our magical winter wonderland grotto, and be able to take pictures on Santa’s sleigh and on your winter wonderland walk.

You will then have a private family audience with Santa Claus, where you can tell him all your Christmas wishes – and promise him that you’ve been very good this year!

You will also receive a photo memento of your visit, and, with the help of Santa’s elves, you can choose a brilliant, well-deserved gift from our range of award-winning gifts in a tin, a new offering for 2020!

As usual, you can purchase a ticket online through our website, and you can choose a time and day that suits you best. However, to establish social distancing we have had to reduce the number of slots available this year, and so we strongly encourage pre-booking your ticket to avoid disappointment as we anticipate having very few tickets available on the door.

Brigg Garden Centre – Santa’s Grotto

Announcement November 26th 2020
“Dear Grown-Ups, we are so sorry that we are not able to host Santas Grotto at Brigg Garden Centre this year. We are as disappointed as you are. We have taken this decision to ensure we help to keep everyone as safe as possible during the festive season. Please pass on our sincere apologies to your little ones. We are open, so we hope you will at least be able to bring them to the centre to see the Christmas displays. Thank you for your support and continued custom, from everyone at Brigg Garden Centre and of course Santa who is safely shielding in Lapland.”

‘Wentworth World of Christmas’ giftware department now open.  Five brand new and exciting themes for 2020… ‘Pink Forest’, ‘Wild Glam’, ‘Wonderful Time’, ‘Christmas Eve’ and ‘Mountain Lodge’.
Unfortunately due to Covid-19 we have taken the decision not to operate Santas Workshop this year at the garden centre.
We understand that this is not the news many of you would be hoping for, but we are sure you will understand this is the best decision for keeping everybody safe during these uncertain times.

North Yorkshire Moors Railway – Santa Trains

Join Santa and his special helpers on a magical adventure aboard the Santa Express, which will take you on a festive journey you won’t forget!

Departing from Pickering and Grosmont Stations, the Santa Express brings Christmas to life and gives children the chance to meet the legendary man himself on board the train. They will be able to tell him what they would like to open on Christmas morning – providing they’ve managed to keep themselves off the naughty list this year!

Sadly this event is cancelled, however Wentworth Woodhouse have their open gardens event.

The gardens at Wentowrth Woodhouse are well worth a visit (lots of things for the Children to look out for including a bear hunt, mud kitchens etc – see our Mumbler Review from ealier this year here.

To keep Santa and his elves as safe as possible until Christmas Day, we have decided its better if they stay at home as much as possible, just like everyone else, so

BUT christmas is not cancelled, the tree is up and the lights are shining and we have hot chocolate to keep you warm on a wintery walk.

The Christmas Experience – Lotherton

Returning for 2020 are:
  • The 12 Days of Christmas Woodland Walk, enjoy this enchanting interactive walk through the Captains Wood, discover the fairies in their secret hideaway Fairy Dell, listen to the giggles and whispers as you tip-toe through. Marvel in the splendour of the Edwardian House with the rooms dressed in all their festive finery.
  • Visit Santa and the elves in the Elf Village for either the 40 minute ‘Under the Wishing Tree’ experience where families will get to interact with the elves and personal Santa visit, or for the smallest of little people (pre-schoolers), pop in to Santa’s Cabin on a weekday lunch time for a short one to one and present from the man himself.
Our relaxed visits to Santa, for young people with additional needs, are back for 2020 too! On Tuesday 1st & Tuesday 8th December you can meet Santa and join our elves under the wishing tree in a friendly and accessible experience.
