Jorvik Viking Centre

At the world famous and award-winning JORVIK Viking Centre you are standing on the site of one of the most famous and astounding discoveries of modern archaeology. Between the years 1976-81 archaeologists from York Archaeological Trust, an independent educational charity, revealed the houses, workshops and backyards of the Viking-Age city of Jorvik as it stood nearly 1,000 years ago.

We usually travel to York by car and park at the Park and Ride, the children love riding on the bus and it makes it less stressful. We have also travelled by train which is easy too, from Doncaster Station.

Find out more about what is going on in York during half term on our sister site York Mumbler

When a kind old lady offers Snow White a juicy red apple, the girl is sorely tempted. On the other hand, how does she know it’s not poisoned? She’s nearly been poisoned twice this week already, and it’s not pleasant. This is the wonderfully wicked, age-old story of a vengeful queen, a magic mirror and a child as bright as the moonlit snow. Join Snow White on the night before her wedding and the whole story – the cook, the maid, the seven dwarfs and all – will be revealed.

Delight in Red Earth’s magical puppetry, movement and visual storytelling, all made accessible with integrated sign language and captions.
