Some fun facts about Bees!

• A male honey bee is called a ‘Drone’ and he doesn;t have stingers, or gather nectar or pollen.
• All worker bees are female
• A bee produces a teaspoon of honey (about 5 grams) in her lifetime
• The type of flower the bees take their nectar from determines the honey’s favour
• Bees are really important, they help to provide a lot of the food we eat (not just honey!)
• Bees help to grow fruit and vegetables by flying around and pollinating plants.
