A couple of weeks ago I met some of the people involved with Right Up Our Street, who are based at The Point on South Parade.
Right Up Our Street is a network of people across Doncaster who are creating and being a part of brilliant art and culture. They bought us the moon in December as part of the DN Light Festival which was absolutely amazing!
On June 30th 2019 at the Doncaster Art Fair in the market place, visitors will be able to immerse themselves in a virtual world. A VR playground in Doncaster!
People will be able to sit on a swing and experience the thrill of moving, while wearing a VR headset which will give them the experience of being in a totally different place.
Propelled by the swinging, each machine will transport users in thrilling ways through new geometric virtual landscapes, complete with 3D musical compositions.
One of the swings will be wheelchair accessible too, as Right Up Our Street want to make sure that as many people as possible can enjoy this experience.
Right Up Our Street are also trialling a vibrational vest at the event, which will enable Deaf visitors to experience sound through touch. Having worked closely with Doncaster Deaf Trust and the staff and students at Communication Specialist College Doncaster, they’ll be experiencing the vests and giving feedback. The vest picks up sound from the environment, felt as patterns of vibration across the torso.
