Visit Doncaster and Rotary Club of St George’s Dragon Boat Challenge will be held on Saturday 13th July 2019 on the lake at Lakeside, Doncaster.
This will be the 10th anniversary of this event, which has so far raised £110,000 for local charities and good causes.
If you’ve not been to the Dragon Boat Race before, here’s what happens:
Each team has 3 races over a 250 metre course, with the fastest timed 9 teams going through to the semi-final races and the 3 fastest qualifying battling it out in the final race
The first race starts at 10.30am
The Grand Final is at 4.15pm
Prize Giving is approximately 4.30pm
We’ll be there soaking up the atmosphere (and hopefully sunshine), cheering the teams on with Visit Doncaster. We will have some of our Mumbler friends too including Tots Play, who will be setting up a sensory area for the little ones, Stadium Stars and Water Babies.
We’ll have lots of activities to keep the children entertained and it is set to be a brilliant family day out. There will also be a fun fair, craft and charity stalls and a range of food and drink, so everything for a fun and entertaining day for competitors and spectators, which is free to attend.
Come along to the grassy area near the ampitheatre, why not bring a picnic! Pick up an activity sheet to do whilst walking around the lake too, plus we’ll have some 100 Doncaster Things Booklets as well, so if you’ve not yet started this, grab one to do over the summer holidays.
