Doncaster Stories is a brand new community-driven campaign to boost literacy levels in our town over the next ten years.
My Mini Mumblers and I love reading and we love Roald Dahl. My 5 year old and I are reading Charlie and The Chocolate Factory at the moment, so I jumped at the chance of getting involved in this campaign, especially as it involves Golden Tokens!!
The campaign launched in October 2019 and Doncaster Stories gifted over 7,500 Roald Dahl books to primary school children in Doncaster in one day.* They also arranged drama workshops and the children bought stories to life acting out scenes from books and transforming themselves in to Roald Dahl’s famous characters!
Hundreds of physical tokens have been hidden around Doncaster and can be exchanged at any of the participating libraries for a FREE Roald Dahl book…rumour has it that they can be found in Family Hubs, local health services…and if you look closely enough you’ll now be able to find some special Mumbler tokens here on the Doncaster Mumbler website!
Doncaster Stories have designed a very special Mumbler version of the token (how exciting!) and there are a couple of links in areas of the Doncaster Mumbler website where you can download the token…but you have to search for it! Once you find the token, download and print it out and take it along to one of these libraries in Doncaster to get your free book:
Clue: Look out for some quotes from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory anywhere on the Mumbler website!
So far 500 tokens have been redeemed and you’ve got until Saturday 23rd November to claim your FREE book, so get hunting! Good Luck!
