‘Look for a Book’ has taken off in various parts of the country and some local parents are giving in a go in Doncaster!
It’s a great idea for getting children outdoors and reading. A simple idea it is a bit like hiding rocks.
- Find a book
- Read it where you found it, take it home to share at your leisure or as a bedtime book!
- Post it to the group (Doncaster Look for a Book) to let others know
- Re-hide!
If you have any old books in good condition, you can hide one yourself for others to find. Simply pop it in to a zip lock bag (apparently the Works at Lakeside Village have some) write a little note and hide!
Suggestion for the note would be “You have found a ‘Doncaster Look for a Book’. Enjoy Reading the book and then re-hide.”
Don’t forget to post a picture on the Facebook group to tell others where to find it!
There has been a flurry of activity since the Doncaster Look for a Book group was created, with findings in Cusworth Hall, Balby, Yorkshire Wildlife Park, Bentley Park, Dunsville Quarry Park, Askern Lake and Lakeside.
We’re going to go through some of our books today and pick out a few that we can hide. The Mini Mumblers LOVE this kind of thing and it will be great to see it evolve. We will be beside ourselves if we actually find one!
