I went along to have a chat with the Doncaster Children’s University recently and I’m pleased to say that our seasonal Mumbler trails (look out for the Family Active Challenge in February Half Term) are now a learning destination for Children’s University and we have a Stamp Code.
You might well be asking this, so here’s a bit more information on how you can get your kids involved.
“The Children’s University is a charitable trust who aims to develop a love of learning in children. We do this by encouraging and celebrating the participation of 5-14 year old’s in extracurricular activities in and outside of school.
Children are signed up to our new digital platform in which they collect stamp codes for each activity they participate in at Learning Destinations across Doncaster and wider areas. Learning Destinations are the activity providers we work with and can include after school clubs, museums and galleries, sports clubs, community groups, plus many more.
Your child’s school might be involved with the Children’s University as it is running at over 35 schools in Doncaster. You might want to ask your school to check.
If your child at a school in Doncaster isn’t signed up to Children’s University, you can suggest that your school that they sign up and pass on the details of your local Children’s University to your child’s teacher. Please contact Heather.coultard@don.ac.uk
Children taking part in Children’s University activities receive a certificate of award upon reaching certain thresholds:
The certificates follow these increments up to 1000 hours, meaning there are 30 certificates to collect in total.
Those who reach the first Bronze award level will be invited the annual Graduation ceremony held at Doncaster College. The ceremony celebrates these achievements and children wear a traditional cap and gown while being presented with a certificate in front of their family and friends.
If you have a Children’s University Digital Passport, use the stamp code below when you have completed the Family Active Challenge
