Announcement from Doncaster Countil 6th July 2020
Earlier in the year, we were looking for opinions from parents, families, school staff and other groups on whether schools in Doncaster should look to keep the existing holiday pattern, or whether to opt one of a number of alternative options based on feedback we have received about how holiday patterns work best for everyone.
We received a HUGE 7,000+ responses to this consultation, and with a clear preferred option, we will be implementing a new school holiday pattern for the 2021/22 academic year.
This will only affect the 31 ‘community schools’ in Doncaster which the council maintain, although we will be encouraging other schools and academies to follow the same pattern where possible. A full list of the 31 schools is available on our New School Holiday Pattern FAQs HERE on the Doncaster Council Website
The option that was chosen as the preferred new holiday pattern will see a fixed Easter break (which will now be known as Early Summer Break), with a two-week October half term and a five-week summer holiday, breaking up a week later than usual in July.
The changes to the schools holiday pattern will take effect from September 2021 for the 2021/22 academic year.
You will find lots more information about these changes, the schools affected, key dates and more in the ‘New School Holiday Pattern’ FAQs, along with the new school holiday calendar and more information about the consultation response available to download HERE
