Here are lots of farms, zoos and wildlife parks for days out with the kids and fun filled family weekends!
Still a traditional working farm, this has been a firm favourite for us and lots of Doncaster families over the years. Geared up to suit children up to around 10. The animal trail allows the kids to get up close and feed the pigs, donkey’s goats and more. On special days there are animal handling sessions.
The outdoor and indoor play keep getting better and better here. The hay bale pyramid is always popular, plus lots of outdoor play equipment, and indoor soft play area which is suitable for children up to 8 years old and a large indoor sandpit. We have often had hours of fun, spending a whole day there. There is a great cafe with a selection of food and drink, or you can picnic outside.
During the summer months, there is the maize maze.
This huge wildlife park is home to some of the worlds most beautiful and at risk species including polar bears, black rhino, lions, tigers and giraffes. It really is a full day out, there are animal walk through areas and lots of outdoor adventure play areas, plus the indoor play barn and lots of different types of food available at restaurants and cafes across the park.

A great place to get up close and personal with many farmyard favourites. A fun, educational petting farm, with meerkats, alpacas, wallabies, pigs, rheas, tortoises, pony’s, prairie dogs and owls to name a few.
On-site cafe with hot food and drinks, or a picnic area. There is also an ice cream parlour. They have a soft play area and NEW for 2020 they have a bouncy pillow.
No pre-booking required.
Ziggy the Zebra, Alpacas, ponies, unicorn experience and petting area.
This family run business focusses on close up encounters with smaller, friendlier animals, teaching about animal care and welfare. The zoo is still being established, but the vast majority of animals are now waiting to meet you, including skunks, North American Raccoons, Crested African Porcupine and Arctic Foxes. New animal attractions are being added as animals arrive.
Although still a working farm, this is a large farm attracton, home to hundreds of animals and a huge adventure playground. We love the tub maze, where the kids enjoy playing hide and seek. There is also sheep racing and ferret racing!
There is also a large indoor play area, a sandpit and restaurant.
A real working farm, Pink Pig now welcomes more than 80,000 people a year.
There are animals to see, plus a large play adventure playground, with a brilliant sand pit (we always spend a lot of time in here!) and a toboggan run. You can take a tractor ride and the kids can launch themselves in the hay bale pool like Tarzan. The indoor play area (shaped like a pig) is great and there is plenty of seating so that you can enjoy lunch in the cafe. It’s possible to picnic outside too.
NEW additions within the last couple of years are the bouncy pillow and also a track with little tractors to ride around on, petrol pump etc.
A working farm, catering for visitors of all ages and abilities. There are indoor and outdoor animals and it is possible to walk a goat. We really loved doing this last time we visited, it was something really different. There is lots to do outside, including Go-Karts, adventure play, including a castle, tractor rides and play areas.
In the indoor play barn there is a giant slide (we have spent ages in there sliding down in the doughnuts provided), soft play area, bouncy castle, a sand pit and ride-on’s. There is an under 5’s area too, plus several trampolines. There is a tea room and a place to get drinks in the indoor play barn. It’s also possible to picnic.
Season tickets available
For over 30 years White Post Farm has been entertaining children and adults, giving them the chance to get close up to a variety of friendly animals, including a new baby python in the reptile house, meerkats, goats, cows and birds of prey ( NEW for 2020 there is a Go-Active Bird of Prey Centre). There are large adventure playgrounds, huge sand-pit, sheep racing and a falconry flying show.
Meet Lemurs, meerkats, owls, otters, snakes and other amazing animals. Watch spectacular shows featuring birds of prey, parrots and charasmatic mammals! You can also explore the indoor rainforest, which is home to butterflies, birds, bats, crocodiles and creepy crawlies from around the world and meet the residents of the farm barn.
We spotted a dinosaur too the last time we were there! There is an adventure playground (I remember there being some ride-on’s on a little track), outdoor wet play area and an indoor activity and craft centre. Hot and cold food is available or there is space to picnic.
Recently rebuilt and revamped, the brand new Wentworth family farm is a great place to visit. There is entertainment for all ages. Animals include llamas, alpacas, pigs, ponies, sheep, goats, foxes, meercats, peacocks and more! Feed the llama’s drive in the tractor derby or splash around in the sand and water play area. My mini mumbler loves the opportunity to pump water around. There are also two adventure playgrounds for children of different ages.
