Although physical classes stopped due to coronavirus, the provision I offer for parents didn’t miss a beat; I was aware that parents, babies and toddlers would need more support, entertainment and activities than usual during lockdown.
So I quickly put in place a range of free and paid for classes to help Doncaster parents stay connected. I’ve introduced online versions of all our sessions and by far my most popular are my baby development and support courses for newborns to 5 months.
New mums, who are now isolated from their usual support networks, have found them a real lifeline. The groups are small (no more than 10 mums and babies) and, once we’re running, we’re closed to new members. This forms a real bubble of friendship and support.
The baby development class itself runs via Zoom and over 6 weeks we cover massage, yoga, baby signing and developmental play, colic relief, teething and any other topics our mums would like to cover.
I’m always just a phone call or message away and our mums are set up with a Whatsapp chat group meaning in those 6 weeks, firm friendships are formed and parents and babies bond in the most precious way.
For our older babies, I have the Tots Play Doncaster at Home group in which I include a lively mix of yoga, music, baby signing and sensory and cognitive play. These can be accessed whenever you’re ready and to suit your baby or toddler.
I’ve also been aware that not all parents can afford paid for classes at the moment, which is why I introduced our ‘Pay What You Can’ classes. These are stand alone sessions on signing, yoga and massage. Parents book for free and make a donation later if they feel they can.
