Accessible swimming classes for deaf babies and children
Home to one of the oldest deaf schools in the UK, Doncaster is known to have one of the largest deaf communities outside of London.
Following research by the National Deaf Children’s Society, who found that difficulty accessing swimming opportunities can lead to a lack of confidence and the potential for deaf children to fall behind their hearing peers, we took a positive approach to ensure inclusion for young deaf people.
Partnering with the NDCS, Puddle Ducks now provide deaf awareness training to our swimming teachers and ensure that teachers understand the needs of deaf children, who may otherwise have difficulty accessing swimming opportunities.
Children are at the centre of everything we do and we want to continue providing a fantastic experience to suit every child’s need when they come to us.
