Life during lockdown has been an adjustment process, to say the least. Juggling work and home life has been increasingly hard, as the lines between the office and the kitchen table have blurred. I’m finding this change especially hard during meal times – I’m either snacking all day and forgoing a decent meal, or simply lacking the energy to prepare a meal for myself and my family, after a long day of working from home, and managing the mayhem that is family life.
I figured, in my quest for some dinner-time structure that doesn’t require being a slave to my stove, I would look into a meal-delivery service. And let me tell you, Pasta Evangelists have been my saviour during this time. They claim to provide gourmet-quality pasta dishes, delivered to your door, and ready in five minutes. And thankfully, they delivered on each and every one of these promises. Upon browsing their menu, I was immediately impressed by the amount of choice they offer. They cater for meat-eaters, seafood lovers, vegetarians, vegans and gluten-free diners, plus, their menu changes weekly, offering an abundance of intriguing dishes to try. Each dish comes with a story too – be it the heritage of the particular pasta shape served, or a whimsical description of the dish’s ingredients, the whole experience feels very authentic, and premium too.
Upon selecting my dishes, I was able to choose my preferred delivery day. From there, I eagerly awaited my pasta delivery. Right on schedule, I received my pasta in a well-presented box (I understand in London they are able to pop the dishes through your letterbox – even easier!), plastered with the words ‘Faith in Fresh’. And fresh it was! The dishes come individually packed, with dry ice and a thick wad of insulation to keep them cool. With the help of the in-depth menu, I was able to – as promised – have the dish ready, and on the table, in around 5 minutes. They even cover garnishes too, so I don’t have to reach for that sad sachet of parmesan that’s been lurking in the top of my fridge for too long now.
I particularly enjoyed their bucatini with carbonara – so decadent! Having attempted restaurant-style (you know, the especially indulgent, extra creamy version of the dish) carbonara at home before, only to be greeted with a sad plate of pasta alla scrambled eggs – I was especially impressed by this dish, and the simplicity of preparation. Their filled pasta is always delicious too, a world apart from the stuff I usually reach for in the supermarket – whenever I see their lemon and mozzarella ravioli, I feel compelled to place an order!
To find products of this quality, ready with such ease, feels like a game-changer. They’re now my go-to for a treat lunch, or a quick but impressive midweek dinner – I like to set a couple of dishes out on the table, alongside a basic side salad, so we can sample a bit of everything. Their dishes would be perfect for date night too – I can think of few things more romantic than pasta and wine by candlelight!
